Man Arrested for Assaulting Driver with Child in Car
UPDATE: A 22-year-old man from Lake Havasu City has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a woman while she was driving with a child in the car. Troy Michael Blasingame faces multiple misdemeanor charges, including assault with intent to injure and disorderly conduct, following a disturbing incident on October 30, 2023.
According to the Lake Havasu City Police Department, the victim reported that the assault occurred earlier that morning as she was driving to a family member’s home. Blasingame reportedly started yelling and then violently pulled her hair, causing her head to jerk down and obstructing her view of the road. This reckless behavior forced her to slam on the brakes to avoid a potential crash while the child was still in the vehicle.
After the harrowing experience, the woman returned home and demanded that Blasingame exit the car. Once she took the child to their destination, she reached out to law enforcement to report the incident. Police were informed that Blasingame had a troubling history of violent behavior, including a prior incident where he broke a window during an argument and pushed the victim to the ground.
Officers located Blasingame hiding in the shower at his residence on Mockingbird Drive. Initially, he denied the assault but was confronted with text messages he had sent, which included an admission of guilt: “I have no excuse I need to learn to express my feelings without getting so angry and I’m sorry.”
The police detained him, issued citations, and booked him into jail. This incident raises serious concerns about domestic violence and the safety of children in such situations. Community members are urged to report any similar troubling behavior to authorities immediately.
This is a developing story, and more updates are expected as the investigation continues. Stay tuned for further details.
