RGG Studio Announces Deep Dive into Yakuza Kiwami 3 Gameplay
RGG Studio has confirmed a livestream event scheduled for February 12, 2024, where it will showcase gameplay mechanics for the highly anticipated Yakuza Kiwami 3 and its accompanying adventure, Dark Ties. This direct presentation will provide fans with an in-depth look at the changes made to the game, particularly regarding the combat systems.
The upcoming remake of Yakuza Kiwami 3 is set to introduce significant alterations to protagonist Kazuma Kiryu’s fighting style. Notably, Kiryu will feature a new weapon-based stance, allowing for a diversified combat experience. Until now, fans have only received glimpses of these modifications through promotional materials.
Dark Ties offers a distinct narrative perspective, allowing players to experience the story from the viewpoint of Mine, the antagonist from the original Yakuza 3. While screenshots and brief video clips have circulated, this livestream will likely present the first substantial gameplay footage of Mine in action.
In addition to combat, Yakuza Kiwami 3 promises a variety of engaging activities, including the responsibility of managing the Sunshine Orphanage and caring for its children. This aspect of the game adds a layer of depth, enhancing the overall player experience.
The livestream will commence at 5 PM PST / 8 PM EST on February 12, with European audiences tuning in on the morning of February 13, 2024, at 1 AM GMT / 2 AM CET. Given the timing, European fans may need to adjust their schedules to catch the event live.
Despite excitement surrounding the upcoming release, past Yakuza broadcasts have drawn criticism due to controversies involving actor Teruyuki Kagawa, who portrays a significant villain in the remake. Accusations of sexual assault against Kagawa have led to viewer backlash, with many expressing their discontent with the hashtag #REMOVEKAGAWA during previous streams. As of now, both SEGA and RGG Studio have not issued an official statement addressing the issue, leaving many fans concerned about Kagawa’s involvement in the project.
The upcoming deep dive into Yakuza Kiwami 3 is expected to renew discussions about these controversies. Whether or not this will affect viewership remains to be seen, but it certainly adds a layer of complexity to the event. Will fans tune in to witness the latest developments in the Yakuza franchise? The anticipation continues to build as the livestream approaches.
