Emmanuel Forbes Thrives with Rams After Commanders Exit
The football career of Emmanuel Forbes, once deemed a disappointment during his time with the Washington Commanders, has taken a significant turn since joining the Los Angeles Rams. After being released in December 2024, Forbes found new life in Los Angeles and has emerged as a key player on the Rams’ defense.
Forbes struggled to make an impact during his initial season with the Rams, appearing in only two games in 2024. However, the current season has marked a revival for the cornerback. Through 11 games in 2025, including eight starts, Forbes has recorded a completion rate of 63.2% against him and a passer rating of 84.9. According to Pro Football Focus, his coverage grade of 62.7 ranks him 51st out of 109 cornerbacks, representing the highest mark of his career.
A notable highlight of Forbes’ resurgence came during the Rams’ Week 12 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In that game, Forbes achieved a career-high with five passes defensed, showcasing his ability to disrupt opposing offenses. Remarkably, he was targeted seven times without allowing a single reception, a feat that has not been accomplished by any defender since Week 12 of 2022, as reported by Next Gen Stats.
The narrative surrounding Forbes’ time with the Commanders has shifted dramatically. Initially, his performance led to criticisms and questions about his potential in the league. Many observers now believe that the Commanders may have given up on him prematurely, especially considering the challenges he faced in Washington. Despite these past struggles, his recent performances suggest a promising turnaround.
As the season progresses, it remains to be seen whether Forbes can maintain this upward trajectory. His recent achievements have injected hope into his career, and fans of the Rams are eager to see how he will continue to develop as a player. The journey of Emmanuel Forbes serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of professional sports, where redemption is often just a game away.
As the Rams continue their campaign, the focus will be on whether Forbes can sustain this level of performance and solidify his role as a valuable asset in their defensive lineup. The story of his revival is still unfolding, and for now, Forbes is making a strong case for his place in the league.
