Garfield County Hospital Secures $7 Million Bond for Upgrades
POMEROY — Voters have approved a crucial $7 million bond aimed at enhancing imaging technology and making significant upgrades to the Garfield County Hospital. The measure received more than 61% approval from the community, surpassing the required 60% threshold for passage. This decision marks a vital step forward for healthcare services in the region.
Hospital CEO Mat Slaybaugh expressed his enthusiasm upon learning the results. After a close race during the initial vote count, the final tally provides clarity and optimism. “We can now say with confidence that our bond has passed,” Slaybaugh stated. “It’s a very exciting time for health care in Garfield County. We are excited to expand the quality of care we are able to provide.”
The Garfield County Hospital and its associated clinics play an essential role in serving the rural community, offering a range of healthcare options. Community support is critical for sustaining operations, and this bond will significantly assist in maintaining vital services.
Investment in Health Care Infrastructure
The funds from the 15-year bond will facilitate the construction of a new imaging suite, along with various building improvements and technological enhancements. These upgrades are expected to modernize facilities and improve the overall patient experience.
The financial impact on local homeowners will be manageable, with the average resident facing an increase of approximately $25 per month—or about $300 annually—in property taxes. Slaybaugh emphasized that this investment represents a substantial leap forward for the hospital, which is crucial for meeting the evolving healthcare needs of the community.
“Our goal is to provide top-notch healthcare services,” Slaybaugh explained. “This bond will enable us to upgrade our facilities and technology, ensuring that we can continue to meet the needs of our patients.”
The approval of this bond reflects a strong commitment from the residents of Pomeroy to invest in local healthcare. As the hospital prepares to implement these enhancements, the community can look forward to improved services that address both current and future healthcare challenges.
With the bond now approved, Garfield County Hospital is positioned to enhance its capabilities, ultimately benefiting the health and well-being of the region’s residents.
