Ty Dolla $ign Unveils ‘Tycoon’ Album, Celebrates Career Milestone
Ty Dolla $ign has released his fourth studio album, titled Tycoon, on October 17, 2023, through Atlantic Records. The album reflects his growth in the music industry, with the artist describing a “tycoon” as a term signifying a powerful figure, rooted in the Japanese word meaning “great lord.” In an interview with Billboard, Ty Dolla $ign shared, “That’s what I feel like I’ve reached… I’m one of the biggest artists in the game.”
Ahead of the album’s release, he unveiled three singles: the Wayne Wonder-sampling track “All In,” “Smile Body Pretty Face” featuring Kodak Black and YG, and “Show Me Love” featuring Tory Lanez. These tracks set the stage for what Ty considers a significant statement in his career.
Collaborations and Career Highlights
With Tycoon, Ty Dolla $ign continues to showcase his talent as a collaborator and artist. The 25-track project features contributions from notable artists including Ye, Mustard, Quavo, Nicki Minaj, Jhené Aiko, and FKA twigs. His previous album, Featuring Ty Dolla $ign, reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
In recognition of his impact on the music industry, Ty Dolla $ign received the Collab Impact Award at Billboard’s Future of Music & Money event in September. His collaborative albums with Ye, titled Vultures 1 and Vultures 2, have also enjoyed commercial success, with the former topping the Billboard 200 for two weeks. The single “Carnival,” featuring Rich the Kid and Playboi Carti, became a hit, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Ty’s second Hot 100 No. 1 after his 2018 collaboration “Psycho” with Post Malone.
In his latest project, Ty Dolla $ign expresses a commitment to his craft while acknowledging that he has more aspirations to fulfill. With Tycoon, he aims to solidify his status as a leading figure in contemporary music.
