Producers Clash Over Future of ‘Doctor Who’ After Controversial Finale
The future of the iconic television series, Doctor Who, remains uncertain following a heated exchange between producers regarding its status after a controversial season finale. Jane Tranter, the series executive producer, labeled writer Rob Shearman as “rude” for suggesting in a recent interview that the show might be “as dead as we’ve ever known it.”
Tranter’s comments came during an interview with BBC Wales, which coincided with the anniversary of Doctor Who’s current production company, Bad Wolf Studios. In response to Shearman’s remarks, Tranter emphasized the ongoing partnership between the BBC and Disney+, which includes a commitment to produce 26 episodes of the series. “We are currently 21 episodes down into that 26-episode run,” she explained, adding that there are still five episodes of the spin-off series, The War Between The Land And The Sea, set to air.
