Ike Anyanwu-Ebo Aims to Strengthen Adams 12 Schools Amid Funding Challenges
Ike Anyanwu-Ebo, a candidate for the Adams 12 school board in District 3, is advocating for enhanced support for all students as the district faces significant funding challenges. With a background in mechanical engineering and engineering management from Dartmouth College, Anyanwu-Ebo brings a wealth of professional experience in design and quality engineering leadership. His educational qualifications and community involvement position him as a strong advocate for the district’s diverse student population.
In his campaign, Anyanwu-Ebo emphasizes the need for schools to be inclusive environments where every child, irrespective of their background or learning style, feels valued. “Our schools must be places where every child… feels valued, challenged and equipped with the tools they need to thrive emotionally and academically,” he stated. He firmly believes that the Adams 12 Five Star Schools should continue to support groups such as students of color, transgender students, and immigrant students, ensuring they have access to a safe and academically rigorous environment.
Funding remains a critical issue for the district, particularly as the November ballot includes a mill levy override that could provide additional operating funds. If the measure fails, Anyanwu-Ebo acknowledges the difficult decisions ahead regarding potential budget cuts. The district previously faced a reduction of $27.5 million for the 2025-2026 school year, resulting in the loss of 150 jobs, larger class sizes, and fewer elective offerings.
“I believe in the power of public education and ensuring that the dollars spent go directly to our classrooms,” he emphasized. Anyanwu-Ebo plans to leverage his skills in data analysis to make informed budgeting decisions and communicate effectively with the community about spending priorities. He aims to align district and school spending with the needs and expectations of parents, thereby addressing the pressing financial challenges.
In addressing the most important issue facing the district, Anyanwu-Ebo reiterated that adequate funding is essential for the well-being and academic success of students. He champions a platform built on three key pillars:
– **Adequate funding for mental health programs**, including support for special education teachers and paraprofessionals.
– **Improvement in academic performance** to meet goals outlined in the school Unified Improvement Plan.
– **Data-driven decision-making** to guide spending priorities effectively.
As the election approaches, Anyanwu-Ebo’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment is clear. His vision for the Adams 12 Five Star Schools reflects a dedication to ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed in both academic and personal endeavors.
