Beltrami County History Center Hosts Women in Engineering Panel

The Beltrami County History Center in Bemidji, Minnesota, will host a panel discussion titled “Designing the Future: Women in Engineering” on October 18, 2023, at 10 a.m. This event aims to showcase the achievements of women in the engineering field and will feature experts who are actively shaping local infrastructure and innovation.
Celebrating Women in Engineering
The panel discussion will bring together notable local engineers, including Brit Rohloff, an automation engineer at TEAM Industries; Jenna Roberts, assistant city engineer for the City of Bemidji; and Laura Carlson, pre-design engineer for the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Each panelist will share insights into their career journeys, the challenges they have overcome, and their contributions to significant projects in the region.
According to a press release from the Beltrami County Historical Society, women have historically faced underrepresentation in STEM fields, yet they have made substantial advancements in engineering. The panel will highlight not only their individual achievements but also the broader evolution of the engineering industry.
Inspiration for Future Generations
Emily Thabes, executive director of the Beltrami County Historical Society, emphasized the importance of this event in recognizing both past and present accomplishments of women engineers. “This event is an opportunity to honor the achievements of women engineers, past and present, while also inspiring future generations to pursue careers in STEM,” Thabes stated. She encourages young attendees to engage with the panelists, ask questions, and explore potential careers in engineering.
The event is free and open to the public, making it accessible to anyone interested in learning more about the role of women in engineering. For further information, visit beltramihistory.org or contact Thabes directly at (218) 444-3376 or [email protected].
