Halloween festivities unfolded at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on October 31, 2025, as students embraced the spirit of the season despite the cool, grey weather. Various events and activities showcased the creativity and enthusiasm of the student body, with a strong display of Badger pride evident throughout the campus.

One of the highlights included a visit from Bucky Badger, who entertained students with impressive headstands alongside the UW Spirit Squad. This lively group distributed candy during the neighborhood trick-or-treating hours, fostering a sense of community and celebration.

As the evening progressed, excitement built around the Badger women’s volleyball team, ranked #11, as they prepared to face off against the top-seeded Nebraska Cornhuskers. Fans dressed in various costumes, including iconic figures like the Grinch and characters from the “Star Wars” franchise, filled the stands of the Field House to cheer on their team.

The atmosphere was electrifying as students donned costumes resembling Badger volleyball players, such as Charlie Fuerbringer (#24), Mimi Colyer (#15), and Una Vajagic (#1), along with their Head Coach, Kelly Sheffield. The camaraderie and school spirit were palpable among the supporters, who joined in unison to rally for their team.

In addition to the volleyball excitement, the Bakke Recreation & Wellbeing Center hosted a Halloween climbing event for students. Participants were encouraged to dress in costumes as they scaled Mt. Mendota, combining physical activity with festive fun. The thrill of reaching the top was made even sweeter with candy buckets in hand, creating a memorable experience for all involved.

Overall, the Halloween celebrations at the University of Wisconsin-Madison successfully combined tradition, sportsmanship, and community engagement. Students not only demonstrated their creativity through costumes and decorations but also strengthened their bonds as part of the Badger family.
