SupplyOne Acquires Wertheimer Box to Strengthen Packaging Network
SupplyOne, Inc. has acquired Wertheimer Box, a prominent corrugated packaging manufacturer based in McCook, Illinois. This strategic move enhances SupplyOne’s presence in the Chicago area, a vital hub for logistics and manufacturing in North America. Established in 1939, Wertheimer Box has built a solid reputation for producing custom shipping boxes, branded packaging, e-commerce mailers, and specialty retail displays.
Under the leadership of Doug Wertheimer, who became president in 2004, Wertheimer Box expanded its offerings to include on-demand packaging and digital printing. This evolution positioned the company as a key supplier for modern retailers and online businesses, aligning with the fast-paced demands of the market.
Strategic Expansion for SupplyOne
The acquisition marks SupplyOne’s 46th purchase, reinforcing its strategy to create a comprehensive network of regional packaging specialists across the United States. Todd Renehan, president and chief executive of SupplyOne, emphasized the significance of this integration, stating, “By acquiring Wertheimer Box, we are incorporating a highly respected and innovative Chicagoland packaging organization whose reputation speaks for itself.”
Wertheimer’s commitment to quality, service, and customized corrugated solutions aligns seamlessly with SupplyOne’s mission to become the preferred packaging partner for small and mid-sized businesses. This acquisition not only strengthens SupplyOne’s foothold in the Chicago market but also enhances its capabilities in manufacturing, distribution, and e-commerce fulfillment.
The collaboration is expected to combine Wertheimer’s expertise in custom corrugated packaging with SupplyOne’s national scale, resulting in faster lead times, a broader range of packaging options, and enhanced digital printing capabilities.
Preserving Local Culture
Doug Wertheimer expressed optimism about the partnership, noting that it allows his company to maintain its local culture while benefiting from a more extensive operational framework. “Joining SupplyOne enables us to tap into national resources and logistics while preserving the close-knit culture and dedicated customer service that our clients know,” he said.
This acquisition reflects a broader trend within the packaging industry, where regional specialists are increasingly merging with larger networks to meet the evolving demands of e-commerce and customization. With this latest acquisition, SupplyOne continues to build a national packaging powerhouse, integrating local champions into its expansive portfolio.
As the industry adapts to tighter delivery windows and the growing need for customized solutions, SupplyOne’s acquisition of Wertheimer Box positions the company to respond effectively to these challenges while enhancing service for its customers.
