The horror film Black Phone 2 is set to debut on digital platforms, allowing fans to rent or purchase the film starting November 4, 2025. This release follows a successful theatrical run, where the film garnered $104.7 million globally within just a few weeks of its premiere. Directed by Scott Derrickson and co-written with C. Robert Cargill, the sequel continues the chilling story of Finney, portrayed by Mason Thames, who grapples with the aftermath of his harrowing experiences.

The narrative unfolds four years after the harrowing events of the first film, which saw Finney narrowly escape the clutches of a masked killer known as the Grabber, played by Ethan Hawke. As Finney attempts to rebuild his life, his sister Gwen, played by Madeleine McGraw, begins to experience disturbing visions that suggest their ordeal is far from over.

Black Phone 2 will be available for digital rental and purchase on platforms including Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and Fandango At Home. On Amazon Prime, the film is priced at $24.99 for purchase and $19.99 for rental, with viewers receiving a 48-hour window to watch it after initiating playback. Additionally, a physical release on DVD and Blu-ray is scheduled for December 23, 2025, featuring bonus content such as deleted scenes and director commentary.

Streaming Plans and Expectations

While Black Phone 2 is not yet available on subscription streaming services, it is anticipated to stream on Peacock, Universal’s own platform. Historically, Universal films have transitioned to Peacock shortly after their theatrical runs, with a varied timeline depending on the title. For example, another Universal release, M3GAN 2.0, began streaming approximately three months post-theatrical release. If Black Phone 2 follows a similar trajectory, it could become available on Peacock by mid-to-late January 2026.

Peacock offers two subscription tiers: Premium with ads at $10.99 per month and Premium Plus ad-free at $16.99 per month. Subscribers can also take advantage of annual plans, which provide a full year for the price of ten months.

Following its run on Peacock, Black Phone 2 is expected to move to Amazon Prime Video. Under a deal between Universal and Amazon, films stream on Peacock for the first four months and then transition to Prime Video. Thus, if predictions hold, viewers could see the film free with a Prime subscription around June 2026.

For those eager to watch the film now, the option to purchase or rent digitally is available, allowing horror enthusiasts to dive back into the chilling world of Black Phone 2 immediately.
