Nighttime Lane Closures Scheduled on I-95 for Repairs

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a series of nighttime lane closures on I-95 in Northeast Philadelphia. The closures are scheduled from October 13 to October 17, 2024, as crews undertake essential bridge deck repairs and barrier installation.
During this period, both northbound and southbound lanes will be closed nightly from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM between the Allegheny Avenue and Cottman Avenue (Route 73) interchanges. Motorists are advised to anticipate significant delays and to consider alternative routes to minimize disruptions to their travel plans.
These repairs are part of a larger initiative, the $355.3 million I-95/BR3 project, which aims to widen and reconstruct the interstate between Wheatsheaf Lane and north of Margaret Street. The project reflects PennDOT’s commitment to maintaining safe and efficient roadways in the Philadelphia area.
All scheduled work is weather dependent, and conditions may alter the timing of these closures. For real-time traffic updates, drivers can visit the MyChesCo Traffic Center. As these repairs progress, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation encourages all road users to remain patient and plan accordingly.
