United Airlines Launches Nonstop Flights from Maine to California
UPDATE: United Airlines just announced a groundbreaking addition to its flight network, launching direct seasonal flights from Portland International Jetport in Maine to both Los Angeles and San Francisco this summer. Starting on June 27, 2024, travelers will enjoy nonstop service to these major West Coast destinations every Saturday.
This new route marks a historic first for the Portland Jetport, as confirmed by airport director Paul Bradbury. The announcement comes just in time for the peak tourism season, providing essential connections for travelers looking to explore California’s vibrant cities.
Flights will be operated on a Boeing 737, accommodating between 126 to 179 passengers, according to United’s official website. Tickets for this highly anticipated service will be available for purchase starting tomorrow.
The addition of Los Angeles and San Francisco brings the total number of direct flights from Portland Jetport to United Airlines’ seven domestic hubs this summer. This includes existing Saturday service to Houston and daily flights to Chicago, Denver, New York City, and Washington D.C.
Zach Sundquist, assistant airport director, emphasized the significance of the new routes: “Connecting to Los Angeles and San Francisco allows us to serve two of our top unserved markets, providing incredibly easy access to and from the West Coast during our peak tourism season.”
This development is particularly exciting for Maine residents and tourists, as it opens up new travel opportunities to California without the hassle of layovers, making vacations and business trips more convenient than ever.
With the summer travel season fast approaching, the addition of these routes is sure to attract attention and spark excitement among travelers. Keep an eye on ticket availability as demand is expected to surge.
This announcement is part of a broader strategy by United Airlines to enhance connectivity and meet the growing travel demands across various regions. As the travel industry rebounds, this new service is a promising sign for both leisure and business travelers looking to take advantage of direct flights from Maine to the bustling cities of the West Coast.
Stay tuned for further updates on this significant development in air travel!
