UPDATE: Sonoma Raceway and Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC) have just announced the distribution of $175,000 in grants to 30 local non-profit organizations focused on youth in Sonoma County. This urgent funding aims to provide critical support such as education, food security, and emotional assistance to families in dire need.

The announcement comes during a crucial time as many families in the region face increased challenges due to the recent government shutdown and reduced SNAP benefits. Among the significant recipients, Hanna Academy has been awarded the prestigious $25,000 Earl Broderick “Building Futures” Grant. This grant honors the late Earl Broderick’s legacy of commitment to youth development, specifically through programs that emphasize STEAM education and skill-building for career readiness.

Additionally, SCC expedited a $25,000 grant to the Redwood Empire Food Bank to address immediate hunger needs in the community. “At a time when so many families are struggling to put food on the table, we felt it was essential to act quickly,” stated Courtney Kiser, Director of SCC Sonoma. This timely support is expected to enhance the food bank’s efforts to deliver nutritious meals to vulnerable children and families.

Since its inception, SCC Sonoma has funneled over $7 million into local organizations, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to improving the quality of life for children in need across Sonoma County. Funds are primarily raised through a variety of events and fan participation during major race weekends at Sonoma Raceway, including NASCAR and NHRA events.

This latest round of funding highlights the urgent need for community support as many local organizations rally to assist those impacted by economic hardships. As the season of giving unfolds, the efforts from Sonoma Raceway and its partners showcase an unwavering dedication to uplifting the community and fostering hope for a brighter future.

As these developments unfold, all eyes will be on the impact of this funding on the lives of local children and families. More updates are anticipated as organizations begin to implement their awarded grants. Stay tuned for further news on how these initiatives will reshape the community landscape in Sonoma County.
