UPDATE: Lois Elise Quade, 84, has passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, at the Nora Springs Care Center, surrounded by her loving family. Her passing has left a profound impact on her community, and a Celebration of Life is scheduled for Friday, November 14, 2025, at Sheckler Colonial Chapel in Nora Springs, Iowa.

Lois was born on August 1, 1941, near Rudd, Iowa, and was the beloved daughter of Harry and Irene (Kuhlmeier) Engels. She was a dedicated professional, working as a unit clerk and nurse’s aide in various hospitals and care facilities, showcasing her gentle and caring spirit.

On August 16, 1975, Lois married her soulmate, Wesley Quade, at the iconic Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Their life together was a tapestry of joy, adventure, and love, marked by camping trips, square dancing, and cherished family visits. After spending time in Colorado, where they enjoyed the beauty of Estes Park, they returned to Iowa to be closer to family.

Lois was known for her exceptional green thumb, passionately tending to her vegetable garden and canning her harvests for year-round enjoyment. Her baking skills were legendary, with Christmas cookies and holiday treats that brought joy to her family every year.

A devoted animal lover, Lois shared a special bond with her granddogs: Jax, Bolt, Walter, Bella, and Lucy. In her later years, she and Wesley enjoyed their routine of playing Yahtzee and watching Wheel of Fortune, while her loyalty to the Chicago Bears was unwavering.

Lois leaves behind her husband of 50 years, Wesley; her daughters, Becky Kirchgatter (Dean Kock) and Tina (Ryan) Olsen; and a legacy of love through her grandchildren: Chris, Jessica, Eric, Kelly, Kyle, Riley, Emily, Wyatt, and Wesley. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Hayden, Hudson, Dakota, and great-great grandson Ryker, along with stepchildren Sheryl Trenary, Bob (Nancy) Quade, and Sondra Quade, and many extended family members.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Marvin Engels, sister Kathy (Kenny) Field, brother-in-law Virgil (Vivian) Quade, and son-in-law Mike Trenary.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to St. Croix Hospice and the Nora Springs Care Center for their compassionate care during Lois’s final days.

This is a developing story, and further updates will be provided as the family prepares to honor Lois’s remarkable life this Friday.
