Isabel Rosas Curci, a beloved member of the Los Angeles community, passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and dedication. Born Isabel Rodriguez, she spent her entire life in Los Angeles, where she nurtured strong connections with family, friends, and colleagues over her distinguished career.

Born to Mary Tarango and Frank Rodriguez, Isabel attended several local schools, including All Saints School, Ramona Convent Secondary School, and Roosevelt High School, graduating in the Class of 1972. She later earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration at East Los Angeles College, setting the foundation for her professional journey.

Isabel committed over thirty years to serving the City of Los Angeles, where she built lifelong friendships. Her career included a notable twenty-year tenure with the Los Angeles Fire Department, where she advanced through various secretarial ranks. She culminated her career as an Executive Assistant with the Los Angeles Police Commission before retiring in 2009.

Family and Community Impact

A devoted mother, Isabel raised three daughters, instilling in them the values of independence and hard work. Her passions—music, dance, fashion, and a love for the Los Angeles Dodgers—were shared generously with her family. Isabel also emphasized the importance of charity and civic engagement, demonstrating these values through her actions.

Despite facing significant health challenges, including a battle with Stage 4 Head and Neck Cancer for over twenty years, Isabel remained a figure of strength and perseverance. She cherished watching her grandchildren grow, attending their performances, games, and graduations, and her love for family extended to thoughtful gestures such as selecting Hallmark cards for special occasions.

Isabel’s bond with her husband, Vincent Curci, was deeply meaningful. Together, they explored numerous destinations, both locally and globally, creating cherished memories along the way.

Memorial Services

Isabel Rosas Curci is survived by her husband, daughters Ruby Rosas Chavez (married to David Chavez), Connie Inez Mendieta (married to Alex Mendieta), and Melinda Rose Quinn (married to James Quinn). She also leaves behind three grandchildren: Lorenzo Cuauhtemoc Rosas, Veronica Rosas Chavez, and Leonardo Evaristo Mendieta. Isabel’s legacy continues through her sister, Inez Ybarra (married to Louie Ybarra), as well as her extended family, including brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held at McNerney’s Mortuary on November 14, 2023, from 16:00 to 20:00, with a Rosary service at 18:00. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for November 15, 2023, at 09:30, followed by burial at Green Hills Memorial Park.

Isabel Rosas Curci will be remembered not only for her contributions to Los Angeles but also for the indelible love she shared with those around her. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.
