Seven Springfield High Students Earn State CNA Certifications
Seven students from Springfield High School have begun the academic year with newly acquired state certifications in healthcare. These students successfully passed their Ohio certification exam, earning the designation of Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), as confirmed by a school spokesperson.
Healthcare Education Initiative
This achievement is part of the Springfield City School District‘s innovative Career Pathways program, designed to prepare high school students for various in-demand career fields. The program includes several disciplines such as healthcare, engineering, manufacturing, construction, digital media, business, culinary arts, and unmanned aerial systems.
The CNA pathway encompasses two essential courses: CNA Certification and Patient-Centered Care. These courses provide students with hands-on training in vital patient care skills. Students learn to monitor vital signs, assist with daily living activities, perform safety checks, maintain sanitary environments, and interpret EKGs.
With their certifications, these students are now positioned for immediate employment opportunities in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and other healthcare settings.
Enhancing Practical Training Opportunities
To facilitate this educational pathway, the Springfield City Schools have introduced a new lab space prior to the start of the school year. This facility allows students to utilize real clinical equipment and engage in simulations, enhancing their practical experience in the healthcare field.
The initiative reflects a commitment to providing students with a comprehensive education that bridges classroom learning with real-world applications, enabling them to enter the workforce with relevant skills and credentials.
