Paramveer Singh's body discovered near tubewell motor room in Sidhwan Kalan village. Police suspect poisoning as preliminary cause while awaiting forensic reports.
A 24-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in an agricultural field near Sidhwan Kalan village in Ludhiana district on Friday evening, prompting police to launch a thorough investigation into the death.
The body of Paramveer Singh, a resident of nearby Cheemna village, was discovered near a tubewell motor room along the Sidhwan Kalan–Barsal link road. Local witnesses spotted the deceased with blood visible around his nose and immediately alerted the Sadar Jagraon police station. Officers responded quickly to secure the scene and take the body into custody for post-mortem examination.
The discovery has raised concerns among local residents, as questions mount regarding the circumstances surrounding Singh's death. Inspector Surjit Singh, the station house officer (SHO) for Sadar Jagraon, confirmed that police are currently awaiting the results of forensic analysis to determine the exact cause of death. "We have sent the viscera for laboratory analysis, and the exact cause of death will be determined once we receive the post-mortem and laboratory reports," the inspector stated.
While an official cause of death has not yet been established, preliminary police inquiries suggest that Singh may have ingested a poisonous substance. Investigators are exploring various angles in their investigation, particularly focusing on the young man's personal circumstances and recent history.
According to police records, Paramveer Singh was unmarried and had been facing financial difficulties. He had recently returned to India after working in Dubai for several months, seeking to improve his economic situation. The tragedy is compounded by the fact that Singh's family has previously experienced loss; police confirmed that his father died by suicide in 2023.
Police authorities have formally initiated inquest proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) as they continue their investigation. Authorities are working to piece together the final hours leading to the young man's death and determine the exact circumstances that led to his demise in the agricultural field.
