U.S. Senator Dave McCormick showcased Pennsylvania’s manufacturing capabilities during a recent tour of two key facilities in Lancaster County. His visit, which took place on October 20, 2023, highlighted the state’s role in advancing industries such as consumer health and agriculture. McCormick began his day at Kenvue’s manufacturing site in Lititz, where he learned about the production of several household brands, including Listerine, Aveeno, Neutrogena, Lubriderm, and Neosporin.

At Kenvue, a facility with a history spanning over 70 years, McCormick observed the integration of artificial intelligence in production processes. The senator engaged with skilled workers and was particularly impressed by the company’s commitment to training future tradespeople through initiatives like Manufacturing Day, which introduces local high school students to the manufacturing environment. He stated, “What stood out most to me was seeing state-of-the-art manufacturing in Pennsylvania powered by an incredible skilled workforce delivering trusted consumer health products to families across America and around the world.”

Following his visit to Kenvue, McCormick traveled to New Holland to tour the CNH Industrial manufacturing plant. This facility has been a cornerstone of Lancaster County’s agricultural and construction equipment production for decades. McCormick met with workers, including fourth-generation employees, reinforcing the plant’s significance to the community and its economy.

Reflecting on his visit, McCormick expressed the personal connection he has to agriculture, noting his upbringing on a family farm in Columbia County. He remarked, “Visiting CNH’s facility and seeing the advanced agricultural equipment produced reminds me of how deeply American manufacturing shapes our communities.” The senator emphasized the importance of supporting operations like CNH to bolster rural economies and sustain livelihoods.

These tours align with Pennsylvania’s efforts to enhance its competitive edge in advanced manufacturing and innovation. McCormick pointed out that facilities like Kenvue and CNH do more than just produce goods; they anchor communities, provide well-paying skilled jobs, and create pathways for young people to enter the trades.

With a rich industrial heritage and a skilled workforce, Pennsylvania is positioned to take a leading role in a national manufacturing renaissance. McCormick believes that strengthening local manufacturing is crucial for keeping production within the country while driving innovation forward.

These visits serve as a testament to the potential of Pennsylvania’s manufacturing sector to contribute significantly to the state’s economy and the broader national landscape.
