UPDATE: Former reality TV star Jen Shah has been released early from FPC Bryan, a minimum security federal prison in Texas, after serving time for her role in a nationwide telemarketing fraud scheme. Shah’s release occurred early Wednesday morning, significantly ahead of her originally scheduled date of August 30, 2026.

The 2023 sentencing saw Shah receive a six and a half year prison term for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, a decision made after she pleaded not guilty to the charges. In addition to her prison time, she was ordered to forfeit $6.5 million and pay restitution to victims, many of whom were elderly and vulnerable individuals targeted by her fraudulent scheme.

Shah had her sentence reduced twice for good behavior, leading to her early release. Upon her sentencing, she expressed a commitment to repay her victims, stating, “I plan that, when I am out of prison, to use my platform and raise the money that way. I hope that I’m able to work again.”

Despite her early release, Shah will not be returning to the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Bravo’s Andy Cohen confirmed, “She’s not coming back. I wish her all the best in her next life.” He suggested that while she may pursue opportunities in reality television, it would not be with Bravo.

Shah, a mother of two, gained notoriety for her role in the reality series, which aired its second season in March 2022 amid her legal battles. The early release from prison marks a significant turn in her life, as she seeks to rebuild her career and fulfill her promise to her victims.

As news of Shah’s release spreads, many are left wondering what her next steps will be. Will she leverage her time in prison to advocate for fraud awareness, or will she seek a new platform in the entertainment industry? Only time will tell.
