S.S. Rajamouli, acclaimed director of the blockbuster “RRR,” has officially unveiled the teaser for his latest project, “Baahubali: The Epic.” This reimagining of the original “Baahubali” films, which were released between 2015 and 2018, promises to captivate audiences once more with its powerful storytelling and stunning visuals.

The “Baahubali” franchise, consisting of “Baahubali: The Beginning” and “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion,” was produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni for Arka Mediaworks. With a combined budget of $70 million, these films achieved remarkable success, grossing approximately $370 million globally. The narrative follows a lost prince who, unaware of his royal lineage, embarks on a journey to reclaim his kingdom after discovering the truth about his past.

In this epic tale, Prabhas portrays Baahubali, while Rana Daggubati takes on the role of the antagonist, Bhallaladeva. The films also feature notable performances from Ramya Krishnan, Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah Bhatia. Among the sequels, “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” stands out as the second highest-grossing Indian film to date, trailing only behind “Dangal.”

Reimagining a Cinematic Classic

As part of the celebration of the franchise’s 10th anniversary, Rajamouli has re-edited the two films into a single cinematic experience, “Baahubali: The Epic.” This new version boasts fully remastered picture and sound, alongside “a few new surprises,” according to the producers. This initiative aims to rekindle interest in the franchise and attract both old fans and new audiences alike.

Following the success of the “Baahubali” series, a five-season animated series titled “Baahubali: The Lost Legends” was produced by Arka and Graphic India and released on Amazon Prime Video. Rajamouli later directed the critically acclaimed film “RRR,” which not only garnered an Oscar and a Golden Globe but also became the fourth highest-grossing Indian film of all time.

Currently, Rajamouli is working on an untitled feature that draws inspiration from the “Indiana Jones” and “James Bond” franchises. This upcoming adventure film stars Indian superstar Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, further solidifying Rajamouli’s position as a leading figure in global cinema.

Release Details

“Baahubali: The Epic” is set to be released worldwide on October 31, 2023. Fans can anticipate an immersive experience that revisits the grandeur and intensity of the original films. The teaser, which has already generated significant buzz, invites viewers back into the captivating world of royalty, revenge, and epic battles.

With Rajamouli at the helm, “Baahubali: The Epic” is poised to reclaim its place in cinematic history and continue the legacy of one of India’s most beloved film franchises.
