Fifteen Rescued from Flames as Beersheba Faces Suspected Arson
Fifteen individuals, including children and infants, were rescued from smoke-filled apartments following a series of suspected arson attacks in Beersheba, Israel. The incidents, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning, November 20, 2025, involved fires that erupted in nine residential buildings across the city.
The rescue was carried out by the Israel Fire and Rescue Authority, which reported that a 16-year-old Jewish minor has been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the arson. Firefighters received numerous emergency calls, prompting them to respond swiftly to the crisis. The flames had spread to various locations, including Aliyah Street, Derech Shimshon Street, Rabbi Uziel Street, Tabenkin Street, Tel Hai Street, Derech Hameshachrerim, Hogla Street, Moriah Street, and Radak Square.
Upon arrival, firefighters began extinguishing flames in building lobbies, electrical cabinets, and shelters. Their immediate priority was to locate and rescue residents trapped inside. First responders instructed individuals who were unable to escape to seal their doors and windows with wet rags and to remain in interior rooms until help arrived.
All 15 rescued individuals were subsequently taken to medical facilities for treatment due to smoke inhalation. The authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fires, while local residents express their shock and concern over the incidents.
