Denny’s has taken a bold step in culinary-inspired fashion with the launch of its new sneaker line, Sticky Kicks, in celebration of National Maple Syrup Day on December 17, 2023. These limited-edition high-top sneakers feature real Denny’s syrup sealed inside the shoe, marking a unique blend of food culture and footwear innovation. The collaboration with renowned footwear artist Dan Gamache, known as Mache, aims to create a fun tribute to the beloved syrup that has complemented Denny’s iconic Grand Slams for years.

A Unique Design for a Festive Occasion

Each pair of Sticky Kicks sports a striking design, incorporating a clear panel filled with actual syrup, alongside syrup-colored patent leather and tumbled yellow accents. The Denny’s logo is embossed on the heel, enhancing the sneaker’s distinctive look. According to Ellie Doty, senior vice president and chief brand officer at Denny’s, “Sticky Kicks are impractical, unnecessary, and completely over the top, which is exactly why we love them.” She emphasized that syrup is integral to Denny’s identity, calling it “our golden thread.”

The sneakers will be available for purchase on DinerDrip.com starting at noon EST on December 17. Denny’s Rewards members can access them an hour earlier with a special code. Priced at $195, the shoes will be offered in men’s sizes ranging from 8 to 13.

Craftsmanship Meets Absurdity

Mache expressed that the project balances high-quality craftsmanship with a whimsical concept. He stated, “Sticky Kicks was just the right mix of over-the-top theming and maintaining the high standards of materials and fabrications that our sneakers are known for.” The development phase included some “sticky moments,” highlighting the challenges posed by the syrup-filled design.

Denny’s aims to merge diner culture with pop culture through this release, demonstrating that syrup can be more than just a topping for pancakes. However, it is essential to note that the syrup inside the shoes is not edible. Denny’s has issued a strong warning against attempting to puncture the shoes or taste the syrup.

This innovative release showcases Denny’s commitment to pushing boundaries within the dining and fashion industries, ensuring that its brand remains relevant and engaging to a diverse audience.
