BREAKING: The annual 4Uth Awards, celebrating the remarkable achievements of young people in Nottinghamshire, just took place at County Hall with an inspiring lineup of winners. Among them is Brooklyn Parkes from Newark and Sherwood, who has been recognized for her exceptional role as a young carer for her sister while excelling in school and youth club activities.

Brooklyn’s dedication to providing 24-hour care for her sister, Teddy, includes preparing meals, personal care, and offering mental and emotional support. Her story exemplifies resilience, showcasing how she balances her family responsibilities with her commitment to community projects.

The awards ceremony, attended by around 100 guests including local leaders Jan Goold and Mick Barton, featured videos highlighting each winner’s journey and live performances from Inspire Youth Art artists. The event recognized a total of 117 nominations, with all nominees receiving certificates and accolades from the Nottinghamshire County Council’s head of youth services, Pom Bhogal.

Rory Green, the county council’s cabinet member for children and families, stated, “The event shows us how adversity can spark greatness… These winners are role models and forces for change.”

Other notable winners include:
Ben Hulland from Rushcliffe, who is thriving despite living with 9P Minus Syndrome.
Jovi Oates from Ashfield, recognized for her unwavering support of her brother Billy.
Natalie Lowe from Bassetlaw, who overcame bullying and mental health struggles to perform publicly.
Eloise and Phoebe Straw from Gedling, who have shown remarkable strength after the sudden loss of their mother.
Anastasiia Kharenko from Mansfield, who demonstrated exceptional determination after relocating from Ukraine, completing her GCSEs and A-levels in record time.
Archie Matthews from Broxtowe, awarded for extensive volunteering efforts and recognized as a regional representative for St John’s Ambulance.

The 4Uth Awards serve not only to honor these brave young individuals but also to inspire others facing their own challenges. The community’s support is crucial, as Rory Green emphasized, “We need to believe in them, uplift them, and invest in their future.”

As the stories of these young achievers resonate, they remind us of the incredible impact young people can have, both in their lives and the lives of those around them. Stay tuned for more updates on their journeys and how they continue to inspire change across Nottinghamshire.
