BREAKING NEWS: Willard “Bud” Hennick, a beloved figure in Floyd, Iowa, has passed away at the age of 94. He departed to his favorite fishing spot in Heaven on November 27, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love for family and the great outdoors.

Born on December 8, 1930, Bud was a pillar of his community and served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as a mechanic on the B29 Bomber planes while stationed in Japan from 1951 to 1954. After returning to Iowa, he dedicated over 30 years to the Oliver tractor plant in Charles City, retiring in 1989.

Bud married his wife of 59 years, N. Marie Wood, in 1966. Together, they raised five children on their acreage west of Floyd. He was known for his passion for fishing, often seen teaching his grandchildren the art of the catch. One of his famous sayings was, “You caught it, now you get to clean it,” a lesson he imparted with joy.

His family shared that Bud’s favorite moments were spent at their cabin in Minnesota, where he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and sharing stories with friends. Every summer, his grandchildren used his favorite pink jigs, which never failed to yield a good catch.

“He was always at peace out on the lake, surrounded by family,” said a family member. “His love for fishing was only matched by his love for us.”

Bud is survived by his wife, N. Marie Hennick; children Angela Cooper, Sandra Kimm, Laura Lines, and Brenda Hennick; daughter-in-law Jacque Hennick; and sons-in-law Monte Casler and Duane Cooper. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who cherished their time with him.

He was preceded in death by his son Dean in March 2025, as well as siblings Wanda Scott, Grace Stiles, Shirley Erbe, Eldon, and Ron Hennick.

An inurnment will take place at a later date, with further details to be announced. Bud Hennick’s family invites friends and community members to celebrate his life and the cherished memories they created together.

This loss resonates deeply within the Floyd community, where Bud’s spirit and devotion to family will be fondly remembered. As we honor his legacy, those who knew him are encouraged to share their stories and experiences.
