Will Campbell Goes Viral Chugging Drink at Celtics Game
UPDATE: New England Patriots rookie left tackle Will Campbell stole the spotlight at the Boston Celtics game on December 20, 2025, despite being on injured reserve with a knee injury. Campbell, who was in attendance with fellow teammates, created a viral moment when he stripped off his shirt, chugged his drink, and dramatically spiked the plastic cup after being shown on the TD Garden jumbotron.
The electrifying scene quickly caught fire on social media, sparking reactions and shares from fans across platforms. The Celtics officially tweeted, “THIS IS OUR HOUSE 🏡☘️ @Patriots @will_campbell66,” showcasing the raucous energy he brought to the event.
Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel addressed the clip during his weekly segment on WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show, humorously stating, “I’m thinking about firing our strength coach for the way he looked with his shirt off.” His light-hearted comment added to the buzz surrounding Campbell’s spirited display.
Earlier this month, Nikita Zadorov, a defenseman for the Bruins, performed a similar chugging stunt at a Celtics game, which has fueled talk of a friendly competition between the two athletes. Zadorov jokingly responded to a reporter’s inquiry about Campbell’s performance, saying, “We can have a chug-off at some point. I’m going to keep my shirt on this time though.”
Selected as the No. 4 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft out of LSU, Campbell started the first 12 games of the season before suffering a knee injury during a victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on November 23. Initially feared to be severe, it was later confirmed that he sustained a sprained MCL, leading to his placement on injured reserve.
Campbell is not eligible to return until Week 18 against the Miami Dolphins. However, his playing status remains uncertain as the Patriots weigh their options regarding his recovery and potential return for the postseason.
While Vrabel has declined to provide further updates about Campbell’s condition, the rookie’s spirited antics at the Celtics game have certainly captured the attention of fans and created an engaging narrative around his return to the field.
As Campbell navigates his recovery, fans will be eagerly watching for any news on his status and potential return to the Patriots lineup.
