Wildcats Crush Panthers 28-0 on Homecoming Night

UPDATE: The Schley County Wildcats dominated the Chattahoochee County Panthers with a decisive 28-0 victory during Homecoming Night at Schley County High School. This commanding win highlights the Wildcats’ growth and tenacity as they improve to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in Class A Division 2 Region 6 competition.
From the outset, the Wildcats capitalized on critical mistakes made by the Panthers. An early mishap on a punt attempt set the tone when a snap flew over the punter’s head, leading to a blocked punt recovered by Wildcats’ Jonathan Leggett Jr. He sprinted 45 yards for the opening touchdown, putting SCHS up 7-0 just minutes into the game.
“Our kids just played hard all night long,” stated SCHS Head Coach Darren Alford. “We’ve been challenging them to be physical, and tonight they showed how much they’ve learned since the beginning of the year.”
The Wildcats extended their lead before halftime when running back Amir Nelson rushed 11 yards for another touchdown, making it 14-0 after a successful extra point from Parth Patel.
During halftime, the atmosphere was electric as the 2025 Schley County Homecoming Court was introduced, with senior A’zaria Battle crowned Homecoming Queen.
As the second half began, the Wildcats continued their aggressive play. They methodically advanced downfield, with standout performances from Jeremiah Johnson and Jayden Figueroa, ultimately leading to another touchdown by Johnson on a third-and-goal play, pushing the score to 21-0.
The Wildcats’ defense remained unyielding, forcing a fumble recovered by Gabe Renfroe, which quickly turned into another scoring opportunity. Antavian Hill rushed for a touchdown, securing the final score at 28-0 as Patel converted yet another extra point.
This dominant victory not only showcases the Wildcats’ potential but sets the stage for their next challenge. The Wildcats will seek to build on this momentum as they travel to Roberta to face Crawford County on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Meanwhile, the Panthers fall to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in region play, looking to regroup in their upcoming matches.
