Authorities in Vallejo have just announced an urgent call for community members to step up and fill numerous vacancies on city boards, commissions, and committees. This is a unique opportunity for residents to make a tangible impact in their community. With the application deadline set for 5 p.m. on October 20, 2023, interested individuals are encouraged to act quickly.

Right now, Vallejo has openings across various committees, including the Architectural Heritage & Landmarks Commission with 4 vacancies (terms expiring from 2026 to 2029), and the Code Enforcement Appeals Board, also featuring 4 vacancies (terms expiring on 12/31/29). Other boards, such as the Commission on Culture & the Arts and the Design Review Board, are also seeking new members.

The Housing Authority has two critical positions for tenant commissioners, with one role requiring the individual to be aged 62 or older. Meanwhile, the Marina Advisory Committee has 4 berther vacancies and additional at-large openings. The Participatory Budgeting Steering Committee is looking for 7 members and 3 alternates, all with terms expiring in 2027.

Vallejo residents interested in serving must submit applications and attend interviews to be considered. Newly appointed members are required to file a Statement of Economic Interests and complete AB 1235 Ethics training within 30 days of their appointment.
