UPDATE: A Vallejo High School safety supervisor has been arrested for serious crimes involving a student, including soliciting sexual acts. Rueben Carter Freeman, aged 36, attempted to flee the campus after learning that authorities had been alerted, but was quickly apprehended by police nearby.

According to a news release from the Vallejo Police Department, Freeman forcibly took a student’s phone, threatening not to return it unless she complied with his demands. The investigation revealed shocking details: Freeman allegedly solicited sexual acts from the student and unlawfully held her against her will while possessing her phone. He only allowed her to leave after she acquiesced to some of his demands.

Vallejo Police Chief Jason Ta stated, “Protecting students is a core responsibility of this department. When we receive information about concerning behavior on a school campus, our officers respond quickly and decisively.” He emphasized the department’s commitment to holding individuals accountable and ensuring the safety of school environments.

Freeman has been booked into the Solano County Jail on charges including soliciting lewd acts in public, false imprisonment, and robbery. He is currently held on a $70,000 bail. As of Thursday morning, he remains in custody.

Calls to Vallejo High School regarding Freeman’s employment status following his arrest have not yet been returned. The community is urged to remain vigilant, and anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact Officer Brad Bermann at (707) 648-4321 or via email at [email protected].

This disturbing incident highlights the urgent need for ongoing vigilance in schools to protect students from potential threats. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Freeman’s arrest, and further updates are anticipated as the situation develops.
