Urgent Recall: Aldi’s Holiday Bark Contains Undeclared Allergens

UPDATE: Silvestri Sweets Inc. has just announced an urgent expansion of its voluntary recall involving holiday candy products sold at Aldi stores nationwide due to serious undeclared allergens. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has confirmed that the affected items, including Choceur-branded Holiday Bark, could pose life-threatening risks to consumers with allergies.

The recall specifically targets two products: the Cookie Butter Holiday Bark and the Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark. The Cookie Butter variety may contain undeclared pecans, while the Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon version may contain undeclared wheat. Both allergens are not listed on the product packaging, heightening the risk for those with sensitivities.

The expanded recall now includes additional lot numbers and “best by” dates not previously covered in the original recall from late November. The affected products were distributed across Aldi grocery stores throughout the United States. Fortunately, no illnesses have been reported to date.

Customers should be vigilant. The recalled Cookie Butter Holiday Bark is sold in 5-ounce Choceur stand-up pouch bags and includes the following lot numbers and dates:
– Lot 28525, Best By 05/2026
– Lot 29925, Best By 05/2026
– Lot 30625, Best By 06/2026

Similarly, the Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark is packaged in 5-ounce Choceur stand-up pouches, with these lot numbers and dates:
– Lot 28525, Best By 08/2026
– Lot 29925, Best By 08/2026
– Lot 30625, Best By 09/2026

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark had been mistakenly packaged in Cookie Butter Holiday Bark bags, leading to undeclared allergens. An investigation revealed that a temporary breakdown in the production and packaging process was to blame.

Consumers who have purchased these recalled products should not consume them and are urged to dispose of the items immediately. For further inquiries, customers can reach out to Silvestri Sweets directly at 1-630-232-2500 or via email at [email protected].

This developing story highlights the importance of food safety, particularly during the holiday season when allergenic ingredients can pose serious health risks. Stay tuned for updates as this situation evolves.
