Urgent Fire Erupts at Langley Construction Site; Residents Evacuated

UPDATE: A significant fire has erupted at a construction site in Langley, prompting urgent evacuations of nearby residents. The blaze ignited shortly after 4 a.m. at the intersection of 201st Street and Fraser Highway, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
Authorities confirm that multiple residential buildings were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Sgt. Zynal Sharoom stated, “Out of an abundance of caution, several neighbouring residential buildings were evacuated.”
The fire’s proximity to local businesses has heightened concerns. The owners of Emilio Finatti Pizzeria reported via social media, “Early this morning, our Langley location encountered an unexpected challenge with a fire in the adjacent building.” They expressed gratitude for the swift response of the Langley City Fire Department and announced their restaurant will remain closed until further notice.
Local resident Kellie Kemps, who is not among the evacuated, described the scene, stating, “I woke up because I smelled burning plastic, and then my power went out.” She added, “I looked out of my window and could see instantly it was a massive fire.”
As of now, no injuries have been reported, but the situation remains fluid. Road closures are currently in effect in the area, and the public is urged to avoid the scene. The RCMP continues to monitor the situation and has confirmed they are working closely with the fire department.
The Langley Fire Department has been contacted for additional information and updates on the ongoing response. This developing situation is being closely watched as emergency teams work to control the flames and ensure community safety.
