UPDATE: A family in Venice is urgently seeking justice after 25-year-old Neo Moroke, a recent Cal State Northridge graduate, was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident early on September 20, 2023. The collision occurred around 2 a.m. at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Lincoln Boulevard while Moroke was crossing the street.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the driver fled the scene, leaving Moroke critically injured. He was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that emergency crews were dispatched within minutes of the incident.

Moroke’s father, Douglas Moroke, expressed his devastation, stating, “He was my life, my hope, my inspiration.” In an emotional interview, he recounted their last exchange: “He said, ‘Hey Dad, I’ll see you later,’ and that’s the way we do it every time.” Douglas has since established a memorial outside their home, where he sits nightly, longing for answers.

As family and friends mourn the loss of a promising young man, authorities are calling for public assistance. Investigators have yet to identify the suspect or the vehicle involved. Despite the busy intersection, no clear video footage has been recovered. A witness reportedly saw a blue SUV, possibly driven by a woman, leaving the scene, but this detail remains unconfirmed by police.

Douglas Moroke pleaded with the driver to come forward, stating, “I just hope the person that did it can find themselves to have a moral conscience to come and say something. Do the right thing. This child had a future ahead of him.”

The community is rallying around the Moroke family, and the urgency for justice grows by the hour. Anyone with information regarding this hit-and-run is urged to contact the LAPD immediately.

As this story develops, the impact of Neo Moroke’s tragic death resonates deeply with family, friends, and the wider community. His life, cut short just days before his birthday, serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and accountability.
