Thousands Flock to Lorain County Farm Tour 2025 This Weekend

URGENT UPDATE: The 2025 Lorain County Farm Tour attracted thousands of visitors to local farms on September 27, showcasing the rich agricultural heritage of Grafton, Ohio. Held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., this free event, organized by the Lorain County Farm Bureau, highlights the hard work and passion of local farmers.
One of the major stops, J.D.’s Mums & More, is a standout destination for fall decorations. Owned by Jessica Doehr, who started the business as a high school sophomore in 2008, the farm now boasts an impressive inventory of approximately 7,000 mums and 10,000 pumpkins. “Word of mouth was my best advertisement,” Doehr shared, reflecting on her journey from 800 homegrown plants to a thriving enterprise that serves numerous wholesale clients.
Doehr’s success story is deeply rooted in her family. Her parents, Brian and Kathy Duplaga, founded Duplaga’s Limousin Farms in 1988, which was also featured during the tour. Spanning over 100 acres, the farm is known for raising healthy, hormone-free Limousin beef cattle, alongside corn, soybeans, and alfalfa hay. Currently, they manage a herd of 200 cattle, with a focus on quality meat production.
The overwhelming turnout at the Farm Tour highlights the community’s commitment to supporting local agriculture and small businesses. This event not only connects residents with their food sources but also fosters a sense of pride in local farming traditions.
As the day progressed, visitors explored the vibrant displays at J.D.’s Mums & More and Duplaga’s Limousin Farms, enjoying a unique opportunity to interact with the farmers and learn about sustainable practices firsthand.
With the success of this year’s event, organizers are already looking ahead to future tours. The community eagerly anticipates what next year’s Farm Tour will bring, as local farms continue to thrive and evolve.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to follow local agricultural events and their impact on the community.
