The Wardrobe Launches New Location in Norristown, Serves Community

BREAKING NEWS: The Wardrobe has officially opened its new location in Norristown, providing critical resources for residents looking to secure clothing and job skills. This exciting development took place on Tuesday morning at the Montgomery County Senior Adult Activities Center, where over 100 attendees witnessed the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The Wardrobe’s expansion marks a significant milestone as it coincides with the 16th anniversary of its first resale store in Philadelphia. Executive Director Sheri Cole expressed enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to be serving yet another community in the greater Philadelphia area.” With this new store at 536 George St., The Wardrobe aims to assist hundreds of residents in Montgomery County each year.
The new Norristown location will feature clothing appointments, educational workshops, and a high-end resale store offering discounts of up to 70 percent off retail prices. Operating hours are set for 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Tuesday through Thursday, making it accessible for those in need.
Established in 1995, The Wardrobe is a mission-driven nonprofit that serves over 10,000 people annually and “upcycles” more than 200,000 pounds of clothing each year. The organization is dedicated to “eliminating clothing insecurity,” empowering individuals to succeed while reducing fashion waste.
The Wardrobe emphasizes that clothing should not be a barrier to success. A spokesperson stated, “The organization works to eliminate clothing insecurity, which can mean not having anything to wear or not having the right thing to wear.” This commitment is reflected in their Wings for Success educational program, which provides individual coaching sessions and workshops aimed at helping participants achieve their professional or personal goals.
In an upcoming event, anyone in the reentry community can receive free clothing and additional community resources during the nonprofit’s Open Wardrobe. This event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 24, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Wardrobe’s participating locations, including the new Norristown store.
As The Wardrobe expands its reach, it continues to play a crucial role in addressing the needs of the community and providing essential support. For more information, visit wardrobepa.org/services.
