URGENT UPDATE: The Taste of Hamburg-er Festival is in full swing today, August 30, 2025, showcasing the best of Schuylkill County’s culinary delights in Hamburg, PA. With approximately 40 burger stands from across the region, the festival is a must-visit for food enthusiasts eager to sample unique local flavors.

Among the standout offerings is the Skook Burger from Hess Catering, owned by Schuylkill County Commissioner Gary Hess. This innovative burger features a deep-fried beef and pork patty, topped with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and honey mustard. Festival-goer Bailey Reichert of Pottsville commented, “I’m not usually a fan of traditional city chicken, but this is very good.”

The festival also highlights the Coney Burger, a 4-ounce all-beef patty prepared in red sauce and stewed onions, finished with provolone cheese. “They’re a big thing in Schuylkill County,” Gary Hess stated, emphasizing the burger’s local popularity.

Another local favorite, Traveling Curbside Grill, is serving up a range of creative burgers including a mushroom and Swiss, a breakfast burger, and a spicy firecracker burger, ensuring there’s something for everyone. This family-run business, based in New Ringgold, has been delighting festival attendees since 2011.

Not to be missed is the gourmet selection from Havin’ a Meltdown which includes a variety of unique burgers such as a patty melt and a mac and cheese burger. Their Screamer burger, featuring pepper jack cheese and jalapeños, is drawing rave reviews.

Festival-goers are also buzzing about the Moon ‘Rogie Burger from Brewer’s Bar and Grill, located in West Reading. This creative dish is topped with two fried pierogies, caramelized onions, and a special tangy sauce, making it a highlight of the day.

Another popular vendor, Appetite Satisfaction, hails from Frackville and is serving its famous bacon cheese smash sliders along with breakfast burgers that have quickly become favorites. Their beef is sourced from Bow Creek Farm, ensuring quality and local flavor.

A crowd favorite, the Heavenly Hog Burger from Salem Church in Lenhartsville, continues to attract attention. This award-winning burger combines a beef-pork patty with provolone cheese, sliced Italian sausage, Fuji apple slaw, and citrus-chipotle sauce on a brioche roll. Church pastor David Long proudly shared, “We make the patty ourselves — it’s not store-bought,” highlighting their dedication to fresh ingredients.

As the festival progresses, visitors have come from as far as the Bronx and even international locations, eager to experience the local food scene. Long noted, “It’s just a great opportunity to be out in the community. You never know who you’re gonna be able to meet with and chat with.”
