URGENT UPDATE: Takkion, a logistics leader in the renewable energy sector, has just announced a significant expansion of its operations at Fuller Industries Inc. in Great Bend, Kansas. The company has leased an additional 30,000 square feet, bringing its total space to 80,000 square feet to accommodate massive wind turbine components, each weighing up to 60,000 pounds.

This expansion is crucial as it positions Takkion to support multiple wind-power projects across the United States, according to Takkion Site Manager Nick Coghill. The components currently in the warehouse include generators, control units, and transformers, all essential for advancing renewable energy initiatives nationwide.

“This is a boon for Fuller Industries,” said Joe Mann, general manager of Fuller. “It’s another source of revenue for us, ensuring that our unused space gets utilized efficiently.” The collaborative effort between Takkion and Fuller reflects a growing trend in the renewable energy sector, vital for meeting the increasing demand for green energy.

The expansion follows a strategic partnership with Great Bend Economic Development Inc., initiated last fall, aimed at promoting leasing opportunities within Fuller’s expansive 600,000 square feet facility. As Fuller evolves its manufacturing landscape, the demand for space has decreased, leading to significant clear-outs of obsolete machinery and equipment dating back over 50 years.

Fuller Industries has been actively clearing out its facility, selling, scrapping, and recycling decades of industrial relics. Mann noted, “We are shuffling things around, consolidating and reorganizing our production spaces.” This meticulous effort is designed to enhance workflow efficiency while making room for new product lines.

This development not only boosts Fuller’s operational capabilities but also signifies a positive trend for local job growth as Takkion’s operations expand. The partnership highlights a promising future for both companies, contributing to the growing renewable energy market in the U.S.
