Suspect Arrested After $2,000 Walgreens Robbery in Vacaville
UPDATE: A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shocking robbery that unfolded at a Walgreens in American Canyon earlier today. Jyryn Austin-Andrews, a 21-year-old from Vallejo, was apprehended after fleeing from a traffic collision in Vacaville.
The incident began at approximately 9:15 a.m. when Austin-Andrews entered the Walgreens and robbed a victim of over $2,000 during a money transfer, according to a press release from the American Canyon police. The suspect quickly fled the scene in a 2003 Lexus sedan, heading east on American Canyon Road.
Authorities were alerted to the robbery and soon discovered that the Lexus was involved in a traffic collision at the intersection of Vaca Valley Parkway and American Canyon Parkway. Following the crash, Austin-Andrews abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. However, police quickly found the Lexus, which contained a significant amount of cash inside.
In a swift response, law enforcement located Austin-Andrews hiding in nearby bushes, where they uncovered even more cash. The robbery victim later identified him, leading to his arrest.
Austin-Andrews is now facing multiple charges, including robbery, driving under the influence, driving without a license, operating a stolen vehicle, and hit-and-run. He has been booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections and is being held on a $100,000 bail.
