UPDATE: The Seattle Seahawks achieved a stunning 26-0 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on December 3, 2023, marking their first shutout win in over a decade. This decisive performance was highlighted by Ernest Jones IV, who returned an interception a remarkable 84 yards for his first career touchdown.

The Vikings, who are struggling with a 4-8 record, faced a daunting challenge with undrafted rookie quarterback Max Brosmer making his NFL debut. This game was a significant setback for Minnesota, as they were shut out for the first time since losing 34-0 to Green Bay on November 11, 2007.

Seattle’s dominant defense came alive with a total of five takeaways, including three interceptions thrown by Brosmer. The Seahawks (9-3) now tie for first place in the NFC West with the Los Angeles Rams, while the Vikings extended their losing streak to four games.

The game’s pivotal moment came in the second quarter when Brosmer attempted a risky fourth-down pass at the Seattle 4-yard line. Instead of converting, he was intercepted by Jones, who capitalized on a defensive blitz and sprinted to the end zone, putting Seattle ahead 10-0.

“It was a tough day for our offense. We couldn’t get anything going,” Brosmer admitted post-game.

Following Jones’ touchdown, Seattle’s kicker Jason Myers added to the scoreboard with three field goals, including impressive kicks from 56 and 54 yards. Seattle’s only offensive touchdown came from Zach Charbonnet, who rushed for 17 yards in the fourth quarter.

Both teams struggled offensively throughout the match. Sam Darnold, the Vikings’ leading quarterback from last season, was sacked four times in the first half, while star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba managed only two catches for a season-low 23 yards.

On the injury front, Vikings’ running back Aaron Jones left the game with a shoulder injury, and Seahawks’ right guard Anthony Bradford and cornerback Josh Jobe also exited due to injuries. The Vikings will host Washington next Sunday, while the Seahawks travel to face Atlanta.

This shutout victory is a remarkable turnaround for the Seahawks, showcasing their defensive prowess and positioning them as strong contenders in the NFC as the playoffs approach. Fans will be eagerly watching how both teams respond in their upcoming games.
