URGENT UPDATE: Scrap Management Industries Inc. (SMI) has just announced a major acquisition of Allmetal Recycling, a prominent Kansas-based scrap metal recycling company. This move, confirmed earlier today, expands SMI’s footprint in the Midwest and boosts its operational capacity significantly.

The acquisition includes Allmetal’s Great Bend facility located at 70 SE 16 Road, where Allmetal will continue to operate under its established name. Owners Clint and Kolby Cornejo will remain in leadership roles, ensuring continuity for existing customers and partners.

SMI’s acquisition is set to enhance service offerings by integrating Allmetal’s network of 10 locations across Kansas—adding facilities in major cities including Wichita, Salina, Newton, Harper, McPherson, Kingman, and Pratt. This strategic move allows SMI to operate a total of five Automobile Shredders, including two Mega Shredders, across 19 yards in Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma.

“This acquisition is about growth and community,” stated Jerrit Burgess, CEO of Scrap Management Industries. “Allmetal has excelled in serving Kansas communities. By welcoming their team into SMI, we can provide greater resources and services to our customers while keeping operations rooted in local leadership.”

Customers and industrial partners will benefit from expanded services, enhanced capacity, and better transportation options, including additional container solutions. “We have always believed that scrap metal recycling is a local business,” emphasized Clint Cornejo. “Joining SMI allows us to maintain our commitment to our customers while creating new opportunities for our employees.”

Allmetal Recycling, founded in 2009, has earned a stellar reputation for its safety, service, and community involvement. With this merger, clients will experience the same high-quality service they have come to expect, now supported by the extensive resources of a larger company.

For walk-in customers, the acquisition means more convenient recycling options as SMI continues to invest in facilities and equipment. This merger not only strengthens SMI’s operational base but also enhances its ability to handle complex scrap programs across multiple sites.

As this story develops, industry watchers will be keen to see how this merger impacts the regional recycling landscape. Both companies’ commitment to ethical practices and community engagement remains a core focus moving forward.

Stay tuned for further updates as Scrap Management Industries and Allmetal Recycling combine forces to lead the way in metal recycling across the Midwest.
