BREAKING: Three Scottish brothers have just set a world record by completing the fastest unsupported row across the Pacific Ocean. Jamie, Ewan, and Lachlan Maclean arrived in Cairns, Australia, after an astonishing 139 days at sea, successfully rowing over 9,000 miles from Peru.

The trio, hailing from Edinburgh, made history as the first team to row non-stop from South America to Australia. Their journey was fraught with challenges, including violent storms, seasickness, and injuries. Remarkably, Lachlan was swept overboard during a storm but was rescued by his brothers.

Amid their incredible achievement, the Macleans raised over £700,000 ($945,690) for clean water projects, aiming for a target of £1 million ($1,350,450). As they rowed into the Cairns Marlin Marina, the brothers celebrated by playing bagpipes and waving Scottish, Australian, and UK flags, greeted by over 50 family members and supporters, including their mother, Sheila.

Just hours before their arrival, Ewan, the eldest brother at 33, humorously called ahead to ensure the marina had pizza and beer, emphasizing the lighthearted spirit that kept them going. He described the journey as the hardest experience of his life, one he would not have managed without his siblings.

Jamie, 31, shared the tense moments towards the end of their adventure, admitting they feared running out of food. “We’ve shed tears of joy and laughed till our cheeks hurt,” he said, reflecting on their emotional journey.

The Macleans plan to continue their fundraising efforts, aiming to provide clean water to 40,000 people in Madagascar through their charity, the Maclean Foundation. The previous record for the fastest unassisted nonstop Pacific row was set by Russian solo rower Fyodor Konyukhov in 2014, at 160 days.

This remarkable feat not only showcases human endurance but also highlights the brothers’ commitment to humanitarian efforts. The world is watching as they transition from this monumental achievement to their next mission of making a difference in the lives of others.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Macleans and their ongoing charitable initiatives.
