Samsung’s Camera Assistant Promises Pro Controls for Galaxy S26 Ultra
URGENT UPDATE: Samsung is set to revolutionize smartphone photography with new features in its Camera Assistant for the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra. Just revealed by Android Authority, these enhancements could provide users with unprecedented control over their photography and videography.
The latest findings from the Camera Assistant Good Lock module in One UI 8.5 indicate that Samsung is integrating video softening capabilities. This feature, currently available for still images, will allow users to reduce harsh detailing in videos, offering options for medium and high levels of softening. This development is significant for those frustrated by Samsung’s often aggressive video processing.
In a further push to appeal to creators, Samsung appears to be adding autofocus speed and sensitivity controls. These adjustments will enable users to manipulate how quickly the camera focuses between subjects, a level of control typically reserved for professional cinema cameras, not smartphones.
While these features are not yet active in the One UI 8.5 beta running on the Galaxy S25, their presence in the code strongly suggests they are earmarked for the Galaxy S26 lineup, particularly the Ultra variant. This aligns with Samsung’s strategy to position the S26 Ultra as a legitimate tool for professionals and creators, enhancing its appeal beyond just impressive specifications.
Additional enhancements rumored for the Galaxy S26 Ultra include reduced lens flare, compatibility with professional lens controllers, and the inclusion of the APV codec. If these features materialize, the S26 Ultra could redefine what users expect from smartphone cameras.
However, it’s essential to note that while APK teardowns provide exciting glimpses into upcoming features, they do not guarantee implementation. Features can be scrapped at any time. Nevertheless, if Samsung follows through, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could emerge as the most comprehensive camera system ever seen in a Galaxy device, potentially transforming the way users capture moments.
Stay tuned for more updates as Samsung prepares for the launch of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is expected to set a new standard in mobile photography. This is a developing story, and we will continue to provide updates as they become available.
