URGENT UPDATE: Russia has initiated a large-scale missile and drone assault on Ukraine, resulting in at least 3 fatalities and injuring dozens early Saturday morning. Ukrainian officials report that the strikes targeted multiple regions, including Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, Kyiv, Odesa, Sumy, and Kharkiv.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attacks, stating, “The enemy’s target was our infrastructure, residential areas, and civilian enterprises.” A missile equipped with cluster munitions struck a multi-story building in Dnipro, emphasizing the deliberate strategy by Russia to intimidate civilians and damage critical infrastructure.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region alone, local governor Serhii Lysak confirmed that at least 26 individuals have been injured. The assault caused significant destruction, damaging several high-rise buildings and residential homes in Dnipro. Reports indicate that strikes also occurred in the Kyiv region, specifically in Bucha, Boryspil, and Obukhiv, damaging homes and vehicles.

In a significant defensive move, Ukraine’s Air Force reported that they intercepted 619 drones and missiles, managing to neutralize 552 drones, 2 ballistic missiles, and 29 cruise missiles. In the western region of Lviv, governor Maxim Kozytsky stated that two cruise missiles were successfully shot down.

The scale of this attack marks a devastating escalation in the ongoing conflict, with the situation evolving rapidly. Authorities are urging citizens to remain vigilant and prepared as the military response continues. Ukrainian forces are employing tactical aviation, including F-16 fighters, to counter the threat effectively.

As this story develops, updates will follow regarding the situation on the ground and the Ukrainian response. The emotional toll on civilians and the ongoing destruction of infrastructure highlight the urgent need for international attention and support.
