UPDATE: The Ridgewater College volleyball team has just secured a thrilling 3-1 victory over Western Technical College in a match that showcased their resilience and skill. After dropping the first set, Ridgewater surged back with three consecutive set wins, concluding the match with scores of 17-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-16. This crucial win places the Warriors at a record of 7-7 in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference’s South Division and 9-11 overall.

The match, held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, in Willmar, Minnesota, saw standout performances from several players. Sophomore outside hitter Rachel Jakel, a graduate of Renville County West, led the charge with an impressive 18 kills and 18 digs. Her performance was pivotal in turning the tide for Ridgewater.

Freshman setter Johanna Braun, also from Renville County West, shined by recording a career-high 46 set assists along with 13 digs. Braun’s previous best was 45 assists, achieved in a previous match against Anoka-Ramsey Community College on September 27.

Other key contributors included Ellie Moulton, who tallied 11 kills and 13 digs, Martha Steinhagen, with 10 kills, 14 digs, and a team-high four aces, and Kori Bristle, who added 10 kills and 2.5 blocks. The teamwork and determination displayed by the Warriors were evident throughout the match.

Looking ahead, Ridgewater will face St. Cloud Technical and Community College for a pivotal MCAC match on Wednesday, October 18, at 6:30 PM at their home court in Willmar. This upcoming match is crucial as the Warriors aim to build on their recent success and improve their standings in the conference.
