RetrievAir Launches Pet-Friendly Flights for Large Dogs, Fares $775
BREAKING: RetrievAir, a new pet airline, has launched a game-changing service allowing large dogs to fly in the cabin alongside their owners. With average fares around $775 per seat, this innovative airline aims to transform the way pet owners travel.
Founded by entrepreneur Benton Miller, RetrievAir recently secured $776,000 in funding from guest investor Alexis Ohanian on ABC’s “Shark Tank.” This funding reflects a growing recognition of the $5.5 billion pet air travel market, which is experiencing significant demand for safer and more comfortable options for furry companions.
Traveling with large dogs has long been a challenge, forcing many to place their pets in the unsafe cargo hold. Miller, frustrated by his own experiences flying with his Labradors, Maple and Willow, created RetrievAir to provide a seamless travel experience. Passengers and their pets can book flights online and meet at a private airport about 45 minutes before departure, bypassing the chaos of commercial terminals.
Flights aboard RetrievAir’s modified Embraer E135 jet are designed for comfort, with a pet-friendly cabin where dogs over 40 pounds are assigned their own seats next to their owners. Unlike traditional airlines, pets do not need to be caged, and each seat is equipped with a leash to ensure safety. A flight attendant, trained in basic pet behavior, is present to attend to the needs of both pets and their owners.
Miller emphasizes the importance of keeping travel accessible for everyday pet owners. While some fares can reach over $3,000 for routes like New York to Los Angeles, shorter trips, such as New York to Washington, D.C., are priced as low as $300 in February 2026. This pricing strategy aims to attract a wider customer base while maintaining a semi-private jet experience.
In the face of skepticism from veteran investors regarding the airline’s operating costs, Miller reports a surge in sales since its launch in May, with over $500,000 generated within weeks. High-demand routes, including New York to Florida, are already selling out.
Miller is committed to expanding RetrievAir’s reach, planning to add six new U.S. destinations in 2026, including Seattle, a city known for its large pet population. The company currently flies to six cities and has aspirations for international routes in the future.
Each flight incorporates a pit stop every two hours, allowing pets to relieve themselves and ensuring a clean environment for all passengers. The unique boarding process minimizes stress, as pets are checked in based on temperament to ensure a harmonious travel experience.
With a mission to redefine pet air travel, RetrievAir invites pet owners to experience the freedom of flying with their beloved dogs. As the demand for pet-friendly services continues to rise, RetrievAir is positioned to lead the charge in providing safe, comfortable, and accessible air travel for pets and their owners alike.
