URGENT UPDATE: Republican candidate Eric Conroy has just announced his campaign to unseat incumbent Democratic U.S. Representative Greg Landsman in the upcoming 2026 election. Conroy, a veteran of the Air Force and a former CIA official, aims to represent Ohio’s 1st Congressional District, which encompasses much of Cincinnati, eastern Hamilton County, and all of Warren County.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Conroy emphasized his commitment to being a “common-sense advocate” in Washington, D.C. As a product of four generations of blue-collar workers, he is positioning himself as a voice for the everyday American. His campaign platform highlights key issues including stricter border security, support for school choice, protection of cryptocurrency from excessive regulation, and easing burdensome codes for small businesses.

Conroy’s announcement comes as he directly challenges Landsman’s record, particularly targeting a controversial vote in 2023 that opposed a U.S. House resolution barring transgender women from participating in women’s scholastic sports. Conroy’s campaign website articulates his stance: “Eric believes that women’s sports should be reserved for biological females to ensure fair competition.” He supports legislation that defines sex based on biological differences in federal law, aiming to protect the integrity of women’s athletics from elementary school through college.

Landsman, who was first elected to the U.S. House in 2022 with 52.8% of the vote, made history by becoming the first Democrat to represent Ohio’s 1st District in consecutive terms for decades. During his reelection campaign in 2024, he attributed his success to a practical, bipartisan approach. “Voters want normal, pragmatic, reliable, and bipartisan leadership,” Landsman stated, adding that he focuses on delivering results for the constituents of southwest Ohio.

As the political landscape heats up ahead of the 2026 elections, all eyes will be on this race. Conroy’s entrance into the race signals a competitive battle that could reshape Ohio’s political dynamics. Voters are urged to stay informed as this developing story unfolds.
