BREAKING: Phoebe Putney Health System has just opened a brand-new urgent care clinic in Sylvester, providing residents with immediate access to vital medical services. This facility will serve the community with extended hours, operating from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends, without requiring appointments.

During the grand opening ceremony, community leaders joined Phoebe executives to celebrate this significant milestone. “Phoebe Worth is one of the cornerstones of this community, and we are committed to making sure that never changes,” stated Scott Steiner, President and CEO of Phoebe Putney Health System. His remarks emphasize the clinic’s role in a time when many rural hospitals face challenges, highlighting Phoebe’s commitment to expanding healthcare access in Worth County.

The Phoebe Urgent Care of Sylvester is strategically located alongside the Phoebe Worth Family Medicine Clinic and is set to treat a wide range of conditions, including asthma, allergies, cuts requiring minor stitching, and respiratory illnesses such as COVID-19 and RSV. “One of our top priorities is ensuring people can get the right care at the right time in the right place,” noted Dr. Estrellita Redmon, President of Phoebe Physicians. This urgent care center aims to reduce unnecessary emergency room visits by providing timely care for minor illnesses and injuries.

The clinic is part of a broader initiative, with a network that already includes three clinics in Albany and others in Lee County and Camilla. Phoebe plans to further expand its services with a second location opening next year on Highway 82 in Lee County. Recent renovations at existing locations, including the Phoebe Urgent Care of East Albany, underline the health system’s commitment to quality and accessibility.

“I am so proud and excited to be part of bringing urgent care services to my community,” said Kim Gilman, President of Phoebe Worth Medical Center. “The employees at our hospital and clinics in Sylvester live here, raise their families here, and are deeply committed to making our community better.” Her sentiments resonate with the local population, emphasizing the importance of expert healthcare services accessible right at home.

Additionally, Phoebe Urgent Care provides telehealth options from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for patients unable to attend in-person appointments. This flexibility is vital in ensuring that all community members receive the care they need when they need it.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony concluded with remarks from Kayla Myers, President of the Sylvester-Worth County Chamber of Commerce, followed by tours of the new facility. The community is buzzing with excitement as they welcome this crucial healthcare resource.

As the demand for accessible healthcare continues to rise, Phoebe’s commitment to serving Sylvester and surrounding areas sets a new standard for urgent care services. Residents can expect immediate, quality care, reinforcing the health system’s mission to enhance the well-being of the community.

Stay tuned for further updates on additional locations and services as Phoebe continues to make strides in healthcare accessibility across Southwest Georgia.
