URGENT UPDATE: The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has just announced it will pay off the mortgage for the family of fallen Burnsville firefighter and paramedic Adam Finseth. This generous act comes as part of the foundation’s 2025 Season of Hope, aimed at supporting families of first responders who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Finseth, 40, tragically lost his life on February 18, 2024, during a domestic violence call in Burnsville. He was ambushed alongside Burnsville police officers Matt Ruge and Paul Elmstrand, both 27, while responding to a standoff situation. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation, inspired by the September 11, 2001 attacks, highlighted Finseth’s bravery, emphasizing that he “acted without hesitation in his last moments.”

On that fateful day, Finseth was off-duty but rushed to the scene as one of his department’s two SWAT medics. His commitment was evident as he responded at night, knowing seven children were at risk in the home. Burnsville Fire Chief BJ Jungmann praised Finseth’s unwavering dedication, naming him the department’s Firefighter of the Year for his selfless actions.

During the standoff, the gunman opened fire unexpectedly as negotiations were underway. Finseth was shot while attempting to provide medical aid to an officer. The assailant later took his own life, but thankfully, the children and the man’s girlfriend were unharmed.

The decision by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation to pay off the Finseth family’s mortgage is a significant relief for them during this devastating time. The foundation works tirelessly to honor the sacrifices of fallen first responders and provide assistance to their families.

As the community mourns the loss of a dedicated hero, this act of kindness serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by first responders and the support that can emerge in times of tragedy.

Stay tuned for updates on community efforts to honor Adam Finseth and how you can support the families of first responders in need.
