New Parking Garage Opens at Hector International Airport Today

UPDATE: A new parking garage has officially opened at Hector International Airport in Fargo, providing immediate relief for travelers as 750 of the 1,000 total spaces are now available. This launch comes just in time for the busy travel season, with the remaining spots expected to be accessible by the end of the month.
The first level of the new garage is designated for drop-offs and pick-ups only while construction continues in the vicinity of the terminal. Officials emphasize that this structure aims to enhance the travel experience by offering covered parking, protecting vehicles from harsh weather conditions like snow and hail.
“This facility is designed to make the travel experience as seamless as possible,” stated Shawn Dobberstein, executive director of the Municipal Airport Authority. He added, “If you’re dropping off or picking up, there’s one lane specifically for that. Additionally, clear signage directs those parking in the ramp or surface lots.”
The total cost of the project was a substantial $43 million, reflecting the airport’s commitment to improving infrastructure and accommodating growing passenger numbers. The previous drop-off area was closed to traffic on August 4, 2023, and is slated to reopen in February 2024.
Travelers are encouraged to utilize the new garage immediately, benefiting from the enhanced accessibility and convenience it provides. Authorities are focused on ensuring that the transition is smooth and efficient, with ongoing updates to keep the public informed.
Stay tuned for more updates as the remaining spaces become available, and share this news with fellow travelers!
