Mia Goth Talks Frankenstein Sequel Speculation at Film Festival
UPDATE: Mia Goth has just addressed the swirling rumors about a possible sequel to Frankenstein during a recent interview at the Palm Springs Film Festival. The actress confirmed discussions with director Guillermo del Toro, shedding light on the challenges of continuing the story, particularly the death of Victor Frankenstein.
During her interview with Collider, Goth revealed, “I did bring that up to him, and he said, ‘But Victor Frankenstein is dead.’” This statement highlights a significant hurdle for any potential sequel, as Goth candidly acknowledged, “That is definitely an issue overall.”
Goth expressed her deep appreciation for being cast in dual roles in Frankenstein, stating, “When Guillermo del Toro calls you just with one role, that’s an honor, let alone with two.” She described the entire experience as “very special” and expressed her excitement about working with del Toro.
The recent adaptation of Frankenstein has garnered critical acclaim since its limited release on October 17, 2025. The film features Jacob Elordi as the Creature and Goth as Elizabeth Harlander and Claire Frankenstein, showcasing stunning set designs and practical creature effects. Viewers can stream the film on Netflix.
Despite the ongoing speculation, del Toro has framed the film as a complete narrative, declaring it “the end of an era” during a post-screening Q&A. He has not signaled any immediate plans for a sequel, but Goth’s comments suggest that the idea remains a topic of interest.
As conversations about a sequel continue, fans remain eager for updates. While no official announcement has been made regarding Frankenstein 2, the engaging performances and innovative storytelling in the first installment have sparked widespread interest in the franchise’s future.
Stay tuned for more developments as this story unfolds. The anticipation surrounding a possible continuation of this beloved tale is palpable, with fans and film enthusiasts alike watching closely for any news from del Toro and Goth.
