UPDATE: A man who allegedly shot his wife before turning the gun on himself has died from his injuries, according to the Redwood City Police Department. The tragic incident unfolded early on July 15, 2023, when officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Seaport Boulevard around midnight.

Upon arrival, officers found Armando Madrigal Barajas Jr. and his wife, Denise Alessan Madrigal Martinez, both 36 years old, unconscious in their vehicle. Tragically, Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene, while Barajas was transported to a local hospital. Despite initial signs of life, he succumbed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound later that day.

Authorities confirmed that the couple was married but were reportedly experiencing marital difficulties prior to the incident. Evidence from the scene suggests that Barajas shot and killed his wife before attempting to take his own life. A firearm was recovered, and the investigation is ongoing.

This shocking event raises urgent concerns about domestic violence and mental health. The Redwood City community is grappling with the emotional fallout as details emerge.
